So close to National Merit... But not close enough.

I got my PSAT score back... Alas, if only I lived in Wyoming!

But anyways, can anyone recommend a good book to help me raise my writing score?

Someone told me about the Baron/Barron (sp?) SAT prep classes that are located in Irvine, CA. I tried googling and searching for specific information, but no luck! it might be my limited knowledge in advanced search engines...but whatever, please educate me with anything helpful.

SAT scores not received

Two friends and I took the SAT on november 14th in the same class room and never received our scores. On the website it kept saying "Please wait untill tuesday" "Please wait untill saturday". Well, now it's Saturday and there are still no scores. It also doesn't even have a "Please wait untill _________ for your scores" message, it's just blank. What should we do?

What's the standard "formula" for the essay? I was very disappointed with my Writing score last time because I thought my essay was one of the best I'd ever written--then I found out that what I'd used from AP tests to make my essay stronger (a concession paragraph) actually screwed me over. Of course, I didn't find out what I'm SUPPOSED to do. Nyargh.
Thanks in advance!

SAT II : Chinese

Hi there. I have a question in regards to the SAT II for Chinese (with Listening), so I hope it is allowed in regards to this community.

While I have spoken Mandarin at home all of my life, my reading and writing skills are approximately at the level of a fourth grader's. I took a look at the sample of the SAT Subject test for Chinese on the official CollegeBoard website, and it seemed disturbingly simple. Have any of you taken this particular subject test? I have looked in book stores all over for study guides, but there doesn't seem to be any for Chinese. (Yet...?) I would thoroughly appreciate if anyone could give a little more information about the test, such as if it is alright to know either pin-yin, simplified, or traditional. (If that were truly the case, then pin-yin would be most convenient, as Chinese is more of a spoken language to me.)

Also, I have heard that entering answers is electronic? I'm not quite sure what this was, as it wasn't made out clear to me. I plan to take the subject test the following Saturday. If you have any information or can help me in any way, it would be most appreciated.

Thank you so much.

I was wondering, does anyone know what kind of score you have to get to receive that letter of commendation they give out for the PSAT? I'm pretty sure I'm not going to be a semifinalist, but I think I might at least have a shot at the letter of commendation. I was just curious, thanks!

SAT II Tests

Alright, I have a question for you all who have experience with the subject tests.
I'm currently a sophomore taking AP World History, AP Biology, and Honors Chem. I was thinking about possibly taking the subject tests in the spring just for the heck of it. Are taking them worth it? And will my classroom instruction be enough to prepare me for the exam? I was looking at some sample questions, and they seem simple enough.

Have any of you used Princeton Review's ACT prep book? If so, what did you think? What other books helped you for the ACT?
